Poznan, Poland and Berlin, Germany
Impact 4 International
Printmaking Conference

Call for Proposals
DUE FEBRUARY 15, 2005

IMPACT 4, the International Print Conference is to be held in Poznan, Poland and Berlin, Germany September5-10, 2005. The conference will include key-note papers, sessions, exhibitions and a product fair, and will be attended by more than 300 delegates. The conference web site is posted at: web.utk.edu/~imprint.

The conference theme "KONTAKT" is the same word in both Polish and German, and stresses the collaborative and populist nature of the multiple. KONTAKT also implies the bridging of cultures and
nations. KONTAKT also poses the issue of globalism, trans-nationalism and regionalism in the context of and the expanding European Union. Structuring the conference around two cities from two nations will serve to provide a stereoscopic perspective on printmaking and book arts.

One goal of the conference is to foster stronger personal and institutional contacts between artists from different countries. We hope to stress the role of projects that foster intellectual and
cultural exchange between individuals, institutions and countries. Major exhibitions of prints from Die Brücke, Bunt (Polish
Expressionism) and Polish Posters will take place during the conference as well as projects by contemporary artists. A reception is planned for the conference delegates at the Kathé Kollwitz Museum in conjunction with the exhibition “War and Freedom” to commemorate the 60th anniversary of her death.

Proposals for presentations, panels, and portfolios at the 4th IMPACT International Printmaking Conference are due February 15, 2005 and can be sent to Beauvais Lyons, IMPACT IV Conference
