Changes at World Printmakers from 2006
Dear Printmaker:

Dear Printmaker:

We have decided to make some fundamental changes in the way World Printmakers works. Briefly, we are leaving the art sales end of the business to dedicate ourselves to the information side. That is to say, we want to spend less time doing client contact, packages, post offices, bank transfers, credit cards, etc., and more to improving the journalistic aspects of the site and creating more and better support features for printmakers and art lovers.

How? We simply pass the sales, logistics and business matters on to you, the artist. That is to say, we publish your contact details-e-mail, phone and website-- on your World Printmakers section so as clients can contact you directly. So you then assume the job of attending clients, sending out prints and collecting payment. The advantage for you is that you no longer have to pay our 40% commission on sales. You receive 100% of the sales value of your prints.

The only payment we will require under the new plan is the annual World Printmakers Gold Participation fee which we are upgrading (for the first time in six years!) from 149 to 199 euros (from US$179 to $239). We think this new plan will benefit everybody. We will have more time and resources to dedicate to making the World Printmakers website even more useful and informative for its community of printmakers, print lovers, academics, students, materials suppliers and gallery and museum people, and you will have direct control-and all of the benefits-- of your own print sales.

Midway through its sixth year of activity, World Printmakers, is established as the undisputed printmaking site of reference worldwide. With some 100,000 page views monthly, it reaches readers in more than 120 countries, and figures on the reading lists of many university art departments. Over the years it has been featured in several magazine feature articles and on the BBC's list of must-see websites. Its co-founder and editor, Mike Booth, was invited to form part of the DAPTTF task force which defined the terms for the new discipline of digital printmaking.

How do you go about signing up for the new plan? It's easy, just e-mail us the contact information which you want to appear on your World Printmakers section-phone, fax, e-mail address and website URL if you have one-- along with the 199-euro ($239) subscription fee. This can be paid by SWIFT bank transfer or vía VISA or Mastercard. (Bank transfer info: Bank: La Caixa, Branch: Cenes de la Vega, Granada, Spain, Account number: 2100 2575 15 0210039535, SWIFT Code: CAIXES BB661, IBAN: ES54 2100 2575 15 0210039535)

If you're not on World Printmakers yet, we suggest you have a look at our application information page. If, after reading that, you still have questions, send them to us and we'll try to clear them up them for you.

We think this new formula can benefit everyone. Let’s work together to make each other’s New Year happy and prosperous!

Cordial regards,

Mike & Maureen Booth
