About Yu Chengyou
Yu Chengyou has his own very special aesthetic flavors in his works in which Chinese philosophy abounds. The neatness and interest of the portraits for flowers and birds of the Song and Yuan Dynasties unite with his wood-carving and watermarked flavor, resulting in a special modern and extrasensory flavor. The terse sculpture, the artless colour and the texture of his works all contribute to its boldness and particularity, its tidy personality. As one of the most outstanding print artists on the subject of the barren north, Yu chengyou has received prominent awards both at home and abroad, like the silver award at the 6th National Art Exhibition and that of the 13th and 14th, as well as the Gold Award of China Print Encouraging convention, Japan in 1992.
