In keeping with the theme of homeostasis, my print "Natural Law" examines perceived issues of order and specifically the future balance of nature, spirit, humanity and technology. I believe nature might chuckle at our concern, for indeed, unity always contains the coexistence of apparent opposites. To paraphrase John Updike... human is the music, but natural is the static... |

| Brief Biography |
McCaslin received a BFA and MFA from James Madison University as well as post graduate study in West Africa through the Parsons School of Design. The artist has received several grants and awards including: Visiting Scholars Grant, James Madison University, and The McNall Scholarship, Kansas State University. McCaslin is a member of the African Studies Association, the Arts Council of the African Studies Association, and the Southern Graphics Council. McCaslin has curated the exhibitions The Sacred and Profane, the University of Nigeria, and African Currency from the Sawhill Collection, James Madison University. Her exhibition record includes: the 16th National Print Exhibition, State University College, Potsdam, NY; and Women and the Arts, Women's Health Focus/Rockingham Fine Arts Association, Harrisonburg, VA. McCaslin was a professor in the James Madison University art department from 1993-1999. |
