The formation of the ozone hole, nature's warning, and human complicity are analogized in my print. Optimistically, the global decline of amphibians, may represent some form of cyclic balance. In a more ominous sense the outcome could be cataclysmic. Can humans adjust to these kinds cosmological pressures? Is our destiny manifest or directed? |

| Brief Biography |
Bradlee Shanks received a BFA from the University of South Dakota (Magna cum laude) and a MFA from Arizona State University. Since 1986 he has been teaching printmaking at the University of South Florida/Tampa and currently serves as an associate professor of art. In the last ten years Shanks has exhibited in over 100 national and international group exhibitions including the, But is it Art? Currents in Electronic Imaging, Pacific Lutheran Univ., Tacoma, WA; The 6th National Computer Art Invitational, Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA; The 2nd Sapporo International Print Biennial, Sapporo, Japan, Society of American Graphic Artists, NY, NY; 3rd International Print Biennial ,Taipei, Taiwan. His solo exhibitions include such gallery venues as the University of Alabama, University of Georgia and the University of Alaska. Shanks achievements in academia include various research and teaching awards at the University of South Florida. He is an active participant in various professional organizations including serving as a panelist and demonstrator at numerous national and international printmaking conferences including IMPACT, a 1999 international printmaking conference in Bristol, England. Shanks work can be found in numerous collections including The Fogg Museum, Boston and the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kansas City. |
