| Born
in the USA Mike Booth was born and raised in Michigan and graduated
with a liberal arts degree from Michigan State University in 1965. He worked in
public relations at Chrysler-Plymouth Division of Chrysler Corporation in Detroit
for a year before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Within six months of
being discharged from the Army in 1968 he was on his way to Europe, determined
to make his way there as a freelance journalist. In early 1969 he discovered Spain
and has lived and made his career there ever since. He adopted Spanish nationality
in 1984.
A Spanish Lifetime
In more than 30 years in Spain he has worked in photography, journalism,
publishing and publicity, with incursions into telecommunications and
marketing. In 1992 he founded Spain's first computer-fax company and in
1996 a telemarketing agency for selling Spanish wines by telephone and
Internet. In 1999 he turned his attention to the world of Internet publishing
and founded WorldPrintmakers.com, a printmaking-specialty
website dedicated to contemporary fine-art printmakers from around the
world.
New Projects
He was recently drawn back into the public relations business in support
of a good cause: the Legacy of al-Andalus Foundation (www.legadopressroom.com).
Booth lives with his painter and printmaker wife, Maureen (http://www.maureenbooth.com),
in a village in the foothills of Sierra Nevada outside of Granada. They
have three grown children and six grandchildren.
