"Nature's Finest," photo-lithograph and photo-etching

My investigation is aimed at understanding the new myths and pathos born of the struggle between the natural and the artificial. I am interested in the identities assigned to the natural world and it's inhabitants. Personality traits are given to animals based on our own inadequacies and fears; generic exoticism and pop myth define their habitats. Carl Jung believed that we all have within us universal archetypes and that we have carried these images with us since the first days of human existence.

Are these archetypes endangered by our protensive exposure to the artificial - Or do these virtual worlds reveal archetypal images and universal conflicts? Our technologies are founded on our bodies; communication systems are based on the human nervous system, digital technologies mimic the genetic code. Is artifice in balance with the natural order? Contemporary narratives mirror this paradox; from film, television and video games to personal experiences. I am interested in disrupting these stories and rearranging them to better understand the relationships between them and the immediate mythos.
